![]() Ribbons is basically the same as Junk, but you're trying to get 5 of the "Ribbon" cards instead (look the same as Junk cards but have a little red or blue "ribbon" on them). It only gives one point but it can end the round if you are ahead on overall points and just want to end the game, or you could add more Junk cards on on top of it to give more points. Junk is literally just getting enough (10) "Junk" cards (cards that don't have little red or blue ribbons on them or the "fancier" cards for lack of a better word) in a pile. Basically the only ones I really cared about knowing were, Junk (top row), Ribbons (third row), and Moon/Cherry Blossom Viewing (sixth row). Also, since it's only against one other player, it's a little easier to win since you aren't against 3 other people. Both are mostly about knowing what the "winning" combinations are, but Koi Koi has fewer combinations to memorize. ![]() Plus the normal AI is usually bad at it and you can frequently luck into a win by just taking random cards. The learning curve comes from the fact that (like mahjong) there are a lot of hands to remember, and westerners will probably be unfamiliar with hanafuda cards so it takes a while to even remember which card is which, but it's still much easier to pick up than mahjong. Making multiple hands multiplies your points, but this gives the opponent another chance to make a hand and steal the round, so there's a risk/reward element. Take cards off the table to build a hand which is worth points, then decide whether to end the round there, or call koi and go for another hand. Koi-koi's basics are also simple, but there's more of a learning curve than oicho-kabu. Super simple, pretty fun, and my go-to for getting tags in all the RGG games. There are a few bonus hands that pay extra: 4-1 for players, 9-1 for the dealer, three of a kind, and 10-10-1. One person is the dealer, the rest play against the dealer, you take up to three cards and add them up, and whoever has a higher value in the last digit wins. It's basically just Japanese baccarat, or kinda like blackjack with more players. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
